We are excited to share with you our upcoming Weekend Virtual Masterclasses in May on Creating a Better World with STEM-Based Entrepreneurship (13th May), Pre-Law and Public Speaking (14th May), The Skill of Leadership in Academics and Extracurriculars (21st May) and Pre-Med (28th May) to be conducted by mentors from Harvard University.

Masterclass 1: Creating a Better World with STEM based Entrepreneurship: Lessons from a Harvard Mentor and Forbes 25 Under 25

In this Masterclass, you will learn from a Harvard mentor and Forbes 25 under 25 awardee about the power of STEM-based entrepreneurship to create a better world. You will gain insights into the journey of the founder and CEO of Arda, a pioneering drone delivery network in West Africa, and learn valuable lessons on entrepreneurship, innovation, and social impact. Students will also learn about the importance of leveraging STEM skills and knowledge for creating positive social change, the challenges and opportunities in building a successful startup, effective strategies for developing and pitching business ideas, and the ethical considerations involved in social entrepreneurship.

Masterclass 2: From the Courtroom to the Classroom: A Masterclass on Pre-Law and Public Speaking

This Masterclass on Pre-Law provides an excellent introduction to the legal system and the basics of government and legal systems in the United States and across the globe. In addition, students will learn practical public speaking skills that are essential for success in law and other professions. The Masterclass includes lectures on criminal law and legal case studies, as well as topics related to public speaking such as crafting persuasive arguments and active speaking.

The Masterclass will cover the qualities and traits that make up an effective leader, as well as the skills that can be developed and honed to become a more confident and influential leader. The Masterclass will also touch upon the opportunities for students to demonstrate their leadership abilities, both inside and outside the classroom, through various activities such as student government, sports teams, and community service projects. Additionally, the Masterclass will provide insights on how to effectively communicate and collaborate with others, and how to handle challenges and overcome obstacles in a leadership role.

In this Masterclass, students will receive a comprehensive introduction to the life of pre-med, with a focus on the physical sciences. The course covers essential topics in biology, chemistry, and physics, providing a solid foundation for students pursuing a career in medicine. This Masterclass is designed to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a pre-med program.

About the Speakers (Harvard Mentors): 1) Jonada Shukarasi: Jonada “Nada” Shukarasi is a sophomore at Harvard, studying Government and Philosophy with a citation in Russian. She served as Assistant Director for HMUN and HNMUN and was also involved with the Harvard Albanian Students Association. She is a co-founder of Gjejzâ, an award-winning app that offers support and help to Albanian women who experience domestic abuse. She was President of the Debate team and a member of the Albanian Youth Parliament, which has enabled her to be active in political, philosophical and public policy debates. 2) Jan Krystian Kryca: Jan is Polish American, and took leave from Harvard in 2022 to work full time on Arda after raising funding from investors in the US. Arda is a drone delivery company that creates software which enables traditional delivery operators to become drone delivery operators. They are currently launching in West Africa! Jan has been building and flying drones for nearly 8 years, and founded Arda with his high school friend (went to high school in the UK together for 5 years) after running the first medical drone training program in The Gambia.

In his free time, Jan used to compete in judo (wrestling) and enjoys working out and running outdoors. He also part times as a mentor for ambitious high school students applying to top US/UK colleges, with some of his students earning 1550+ scores on their SAT and being admitted to UPenn and UCL. 3) Margaret Woo: is a sophomore studying Applied Mathematics on the Biology track with a minor in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Her academic interests include the biological sciences, problem solving, and data analysis/data science. In the past, she has mainly tutored in the STEM subjects, particularly the different levels of algebra, chemistry, and biology.
