This week, it was our Secondary Campus’s turn to hold their first Back to School Night. These virtual sessions provide a great chance for parents and students to meet our faculty team at Secondary as well as learn more about what lies ahead for the new academic year 2021/22.
Opening the event, Mr. Will Hurtado, Secondary Principal shared “We are extremely excited to welcome you all this evening and share with you a very different but very interesting Back to School Night!” He went on to share that “The focus of this evening is for us as a leadership team, and some new members of the faculty, to introduce ourselves, share about our mission and vision, provide an insight into our focus areas for the upcoming year, to look at our programs, and of course, to meet the most important people in the school, the faculty.”
Speaking also at the event was our Head of School, Ms. Kim Green who welcomed everyone. “It is so wonderful to see you. It is my pleasure and privilege to be the Head of School here at ISHCMC.”
Ms. Green took the opportunity to share with the community, ISHCMC’s new, refreshed Vision and Mission. “Our vision is “To create an inspiring world of education by building self-belief and empowering individuals to succeed.” We are here for each of our learners, we are here to help each of our learners discover themselves and to be able to see their own success.”
She also spoke on the school’s revitalized mission, “We inspire wellbeing and learning, so that our diverse, internationally-minded community flourish as energized, engaged and empowered learners.”
Other speakers included Ms. Priya Mitchel, our new Wellness and Safeguarding Architect who spoke on ISHCMC’s commitment to Wellbeing and keeping students safe; as well as our DP & Projects Coordinator, Laney Rweyemamu, MYP Coordinator, Simon Scoones, as well as our Assistant Principals, Jo Smith, and Dylan Citrin, who spoke on the academic journey ahead for our students.
If you were unable to attend the first Back to School Night Session, a second session will be held on Wednesday the 1st of September.
