Class of 2023 Spotlight Interview: Reflecting on Life at ISHCMC

Just before our Class of 2023 graduated, we had the opportunity to sit with some of our Grade 12 students to find out what life was like studying at The International School of Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC).

Taking a different format from previous years, this time we adopted a novel approach to the interviews allowing for our Grade 12 students to take turns selecting questions at random and asking each other to share their thoughts. As you will see in the video, it was interesting to see the students gain insights into each other's experiences, as well as sharing their own.

“ISHCMC offers a lot of guidance to the students, such as university counselors, and supportive teachers who are always ready to talk to you"

When asked about why ISHCMC is different from other schools within the city, Grade 12 student, AT shared: ‘Out of every international school in HCMC, I would still prefer ISHCMC, especially when it comes to IB programmes. ISHCMC is a very good place since the school prepares you with necessary skills and knowledge from Primary.’.

Students also remarked on the unique and special community at the school, with one student Elena revealing ‘The thing that makes ISHCMC distinguishable is the very close community that the school has, including teachers, staff and friends.’ While others, when asked to sum up ISHCMC in one word, spoke of ‘people”, “community” and “culture” Other students in the spotlight interview shared on the school’s nurturing nature, with one student, Jun, expressing “ISHCMC offers a lot of guidance to the students, such as university counselors, and supportive teachers who are always ready to talk to you,... In almost every environment, you can find someone that could really support you.’

All in all, it was a fantastic opportunity for us to hear from the students on their journey at ISHCMC. From opportunities to discover passions, the amazing support of the teachers to the unique community, we loved hearing the positive experience our students had.

A big thank you to all the Grade 12 students who took part in the Class of 2023 Spotlight Interview. We wish you, and the rest of the class of 2023 all the best for your next chapter. Always remember Once a Rhino, Always a Rhino!
