Last Friday to Sunday, our Grade 12 Geography students visited Vung Tau to collect primary data in the field. This data will be used in their Internal Assessment (IA) which counts for 20% (Higher Level) or 25% (Standard Level) of their overall final grade.
Students completed an environmental analysis, spoke to Vung Tau Tourism Authority representatives and interviewed various stakeholders. After dinner, each evening students spent between 90-120 minutes in workshops making sense of what they’d seen and to draft their IAs.
Students not only learned new skills and content but had the opportunity to learn with and from each other. The trip enabled students to engage in discussions at a higher level focusing on the merits and challenges of tourism in Vung Tau and how to manage it sustainably in a real-life setting.
