Head of School Message - 17 January

Writer: Marco LongmoreMarco Longmore

Dear Parents,

As I come to the end of my first full week at ISHCMC, I want to reiterate my thanks for the warm welcome that has been shown to me since my arrival. It has been a real pleasure to meet with students, staff, and parents in the past few days and to see the vibrancy of the school community.

It is just that vibrance that showed through with our visitor Mr. Tim Franks, CEO of Jacobs Holding (Cognita’s majority owner) this week. His praise was fulsome for the students who led our tours of Primary and Secondary Schools. This was his first visit to the School and also to Vietnam and I know he has left with a lasting impression of a great school and one that is rightly seen as a shining example of international education here in Asia. I know he is inspired to return to Vietnam in the future for longer.

It was also a great pleasure to meet with our Parent Teacher Organisation (PTO).  I very much look forward to meeting with them and all parents in a variety of settings in the coming weeks and hearing more about what you see as the distinctive features of ISHCMC and what can further enhance the strengths seen at our school.

I send my best wishes to our ASAC Junior Football and ASAC Senior Basketball teams who are traveling to Cambodia and our MRISA Senior Badminton teams at SSIS, this weekend competing in international tournaments against top schools across Southeast Asia.

This week our Grade 11 students and parents met with our Future Pathways counselors to learn more about how we’ll support them in forging their educational path beyond ISHCMC. Next week, our primary teachers look forward to meeting with you at our 3-way conferences. We firmly believe that a strong home-school partnership is essential for every child to thrive and reach their full potential. Please note the details below.

As we approach the Tet Holidays to celebrate this very important New Year celebration, please let me wish you and your families a most enjoyable, and prosperous, Year of the Snake.

With warm regards,

Marco Longmore
