The Devastating Impact of Typhoon Yagi
Typhoon Yagi has left a trail of destruction in its wake. The storm brought heavy rains, strong winds, and flooding, causing significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and agricultural land. Many communities in the affected regions are now struggling to recover from the devastation. According to the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, the number of families affected by Typhoon Yagi in Hanoi and nearby provinces continues to rise. As water levels in the Red River rise rapidly due to the release of water from hydropower plants, the situation is worsening, particularly for impoverished communities in Bãi Giữa and Phúc Xá. Many families have lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods due to the flooding. Some have been forced to seek shelter at the Blue Dragon center, but with the office itself at risk of flooding, relocation efforts are underway.
Essential Supplies Needed
To support these affected families, we urgently need the following items:
Food: Rice, noodles, canned goods, and other non-perishable food items
Water: Clean drinking water
Personal Items: Clothes, blankets, bedding, and hygiene supplies
Cooking Supplies: Pots, pans, plates, chopsticks
Baby Supplies: Formula, diapers, baby clothes
Shelter Materials: Tents, tarps, and other materials for temporary shelter Monetary donations: You can also donate cash to support the cause at the designated donation boxes at Primary and Secondary offices from Friday, September 20. By donating these essential supplies, you can help provide much-needed relief to families affected by Typhoon Yagi. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant impact. To ensure a swift packing and delivery process please ensure you separate goods into the categories above and drop them into the correct boxes.
Drop-Off Locations We will collect donations from Friday, 20th September, until Friday, 27th September, and deliver them to Northern Vietnam in partnership with DHL, Anh Chi Em, and Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation.
